Purpose
The ACTUSAFE Series is designed for pipeline valves at facilities with stringent industrial safety requirements. In addition to standard control, the actuators move the valves to a pre-set safe position in an emergency.
The safe position is specified by the process flow diagram and is implemented in one of two ways:
Normally open (NO)
When the safety mechanism is triggered, the valve opens;
Normally closed (NC)
When the safety mechanism is triggered, the valve closes.
A mechanical spring provides the energy required to move the valve to the safe position. The mechanism is triggered by a sudden power failure or a specified control signal when required by the process.
The actuators may be installed in hard-to-reach pipeline sections, including locations with independent power and remote control over a cellular network.

ACTUSAFE Series Actuator Types
The series includes two design types. The actuator type is selected based on the movement of the valve closure element.
ACTUSAFE linear actuators
Suitable for shut-off, control, and combined shut-off/control valves. Supplied with a stand-alone LUS safety mechanism or with a mechanism integrated into the actuator housing.
