Purpose
The AB series is designed to control pipeline valves. The actuators are installed on multi-turn gate valves, ball valves, butterfly valves, segment and smooth-spindle valves. In agreement with the manufacturer, the series is also used for other mechanisms requiring controlled torque or linear force.
AB series drives operate
in three modes:
«Open/close»
for shut-off valves
«Regulation»
for control valves
Combined
regulation with the ability to “open/close”. This version is available in low speed versions for regulation and high speed versions for open/close operation.
Design options
The series is divided into four basic versions depending on the type of fittings and operating conditions. The marking is indicated in the product designation.

To increase torque, change axial forces or complex connections with fittings, the following gearboxes are added to the basic versions: cylindrical (IS), bevel (IB), part-turn (IW, MF), lever (SF), linear (L, S). In this case, the appropriate symbol is added to the marking - for example, AB + IB or AB + IS.
AB Series Drive Types
The AB series includes six design types. The type is selected based on the nature of the movement of the shut-off element of the valve.
AB multi-turn drives
They control multi-turn gate valves, ball valves, butterfly valves and segment valves. The shut-off element moves due to several revolutions of the output shaft.
Multi-turn bevel gear drives (AB + IB)
They are used for multi-turn valves and similar mechanisms that require increased torque while maintaining the multi-turn actuator layout.
Torque:
7–8,100 Nm (S2) / 7–4,000 Nm (S4)
Speed range:
0.6–200 rpm (S2) / 0.6–40 rpm (S4)
The remaining parameters are
the same as for AB multi-turn drives
Multi-turn actuators with spur gearbox (AB + IS)
Used on multi-turn valves with the highest torque requirements within the series.
Torque:
7–43,000 Nm (S2) / 7–21,500 Nm (S4)
Speed range:
0.2–200 rpm (S2) / 0.6–40 rpm (S4)
The remaining parameters are
the same as for AB multi-turn drives
Quarter-turn drives
They control ball valves, butterfly valves and segment valves. The shut-off valve rotates 90°.
Torque:
7–8,100 Nm (S2) / 7–4,000 Nm (S4)
Turning time:
3–900 sec
Features:
Adjustable mechanical travel stops
Features:
Limit and torque switches, position control feedback sensor
Lever drives
Ball valves, butterfly valves and segment valves are controlled via a lever transmission. Allows separate installation of the locking device and drive.
Torque:
70–10,000 Nm
Turning time:
3–900 sec
Features:
Version with bottom flange and starting lever
Features:
Adjustable mechanical stops
Linear drives
They control smooth-spindle valves and valves with progressive movement of the shutter. The shut-off element moves linearly.
Working force:
3-400 kN (S2) / 3-200 kN (S4)
Positioning speed:
3–900 mm/sec
Features:
Limit and torque switches, position control feedback sensor

Standards and certification
Connection with reinforcement: The connection of the drive to the valve complies with ISO 5210, DIN 3210 and ST TsKBA 062-2009 standards.

Explosion-proof design: Explosion-proof versions (exAB, exrAB) comply with protection class EExdellCT4 according to standard EN 60079 and industrial safety requirements of GOST R 51330.13.

Compliance is confirmed by certificates:
GOST R 51330.0, 51330.1, 51330.8, 51330.9, 51330.10, 51330.11
